Beschreibung

Contemporary pottery, Maurice Lambiotte collection, Ed. Norma, 9 inches x 12 inches ( 23 cm x 30.5 cm ), hardcover book with 176 full color pages - French/English edition

This wonderful book with 176 full color pages presents the French pottery and faience collection of Maurice Lambiotte showing the works of contemporary artists like

Eric Astoul, Pierre Bayle, Rémi Bonhert, Anne Bulliot, Claude Champy, Robert Deblander, Jean-Marie Foubert, Jean-François Fouilhoux, Elisabeth Joulia, Anne Kjaersgaard, Torbjörn Kvasbö, Daniel de Montmollin, Hervé Rousseau, Alain Vernis, Camille Virot, Seung-Ho Yang.

At a time when the exceptional set of contemporary ceramics he has assembled enters the Adrien-Dubouché museum in Limoges, Maurice Lambiotte wonders about the passion for sandstone that has accompanied his life.
At a time when collecting is for many the affirmation of a social status, it makes us find an intimate relationship with the object which gives their sensitivity to large collections.
Drawing a parallel between his profession as a researcher and the work of the potter, Lambiotte questions the mystery of creation.
Telling the genesis of the pieces he has chosen and often seen being born is the most beautiful autobiography that a lover can write.
In his preface Robert Deblander, remarkable potter artist, underlines the importance of this collection which counts more than 300 pieces: stoneware, rakus, enamels and celadons.
In the second part of the work, Carole Andréani, art historian, collects the biographies of sixteen ceramists, such as Astoul, Champy, Joulia, or Seung-Ho Yang, with whom Maurice Lambiotte has not stopped talking since early 1960s.

The texts are written in French and in English by Maurice Lambiotte and Carole Andréani.
